Optimizing Gearbox Lubrication Through Advanced Simulation
EnginSoft USA to present Particleworks-based, machine-learning-enhanced CFD at STLE 2026

MCKINNEY, Texas – May 12, 2026 – EnginSoft USA, a leading provider of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) solutions, is proud to announce its participation as an exhibitor at the STLE Annual Meeting & Exhibition 2026, taking place May 17–21, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Hosted by the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, the STLE Annual Meeting is one of the premier global events for professionals in tribology, lubrication, and surface engineering. The conference brings together researchers, engineers, and industry leaders to explore advancements in lubrication science, fluid behavior, and emerging technologies.
At this year’s event, EnginSoft USA will showcase Particleworks, an advanced, mesh-free Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solution based on the Moving Particle Simulation (MPS) method. Particleworks is uniquely suited for simulating complex free-surface and multiphase flows, making it an ideal tool for lubrication analysis in gearboxes, eDrives, and other tribological systems where traditional mesh-based CFD approaches face limitations.
Attendees visiting the EnginSoft USA booth will have the opportunity to see how Particleworks enables engineers to:
- Accurately capture oil splashing, churning, and aeration behavior
- Analyze lubrication performance under dynamic operating conditions
- Reduce reliance on costly physical testing
- Accelerate design iteration with efficient, high-fidelity simulation
A key highlight of EnginSoft USA’s presence at STLE 2026 will be a technical presentation by Dr. Emmanuvel Joseph Aju, titled:“Machine-Learning-Enabled Optimization of Gearbox Lubrication Using Experimental Flow Fields.” The presentation will take place during the AI & Machine Learning and Lubrication Fundamentals Joint Session (Session 3A) on May 19, 2026, with Dr. Aju’s talk scheduled from 8:40 AM to 9:00 AM.
This work explores a novel hybrid approach that combines high-fidelity particle-based CFD with machine learning techniques to improve predictive accuracy in gearbox lubrication modeling. Using experimental particle image velocimetry (PIV) data, the study demonstrates how simulation parameters can be optimized to better match real-world flow behavior, enabling more reliable predictions of oil distribution, churning losses, and lubrication effectiveness.
“As lubrication systems become more complex, especially in electrified and high-speed applications, capturing real fluid behavior is critical,” said Brant Ross. “Particleworks provides a powerful framework for modeling these challenging flows, and combining it with machine learning opens new opportunities to improve accuracy and reduce development time.”
In addition to software, EnginSoft USA offers consulting, training, and workflow development services to help organizations integrate advanced simulation into their engineering processes and solve complex fluid dynamics challenges.
Attendees are invited to visit EnginSoft USA at STLE 2026 to see live demonstrations, discuss lubrication challenges, and learn how particle-based CFD can enhance their simulation capabilities.
